-Synopsis

Walter, now retired, can't surrender to the rush of time knowing that at his age there's no much life left. Selfish, imaginative, yet never a victim; Walter is very crafty at fulling the long empty days with all sorts of tricks. He calls free numbers to argue with operators, he pretends he wants to sell his house while having no real intention of doing so- just to have visitors. He makes friends with a ten year old girl named Sara, who follows him in his small bazaar adventure of escaping time.
One day as he was reading the newspaper in the park, Walter read something that sparked his attention: according to new statistics- for each young man working there's an old man at home.
"This means that someone out there is woking for me, so i have to find him, guide him, let him know that in essence he's working for both of us and in the end thank him"
This is what Walter thinks as he starts new exilarating research with his little friend. They find a young employee who turns out to be a very shy and repressed man named Piero. Throughout jealosys and annoyances, Walter makes a peculiar bond with him, becoming a surrogate father to Piero. And above all he becomes a teacher of how to love given that Piero was lacking in this department. The outcome of this conflicting relationship between the two of them forces piero to look for the very first woman of his life that may have unpredictable endings.

NOTE

Notes
For each young man working there's an old man at home and the movie is basically inspired by this revelation.According to the statistics INPS and ISTAT it is the reality in some areas of Italy and is also the perception of Europeans. This story brings it to an extreme level and creates a humorous fable-like tail. But in reality, the movie is also about the lonliness of an old man in comparison with the life of a young man in his prime. It is portrayed in a very light-hearted tone using comical elements, however always containing an undershadowing of bitterness. Therefore, the style of acting and the visual images are designed to maintain a natural and realistic mood when the situation may appear absurd or paradoxical, allowing the viewers to identify with the movie. Even the lonliness of the young girls whose single mother works at night is told without intonations of pity.
In the end we could say that this movie, which dealing with very realistic concerns in modern day society, is exposed through a filter of comical and fable-like qualites.

The movie takes place in Rome, a city that appears warm and sunny, but like any other metropolis it is run by disguised underground stories that seem invisible and are much more complex.
